Youth Development:
Dunstablians Youth Development Programme
The programme delivers coaching to students from year 3 to the final year of education in school at year 13. We are offering coaching to the list of schools below and we already deliver coaching to at least 50% of the schools. The majority of the coaching is delivered by the YDO, Anthony Verster with support from the Director of Rugby and the mini/ junior coaches.
We are :
1. Increasing participation of boys and girls rugby in the local area
2. Improving skills and performance
3. Providing equipment and facilities for competitions.
4. Helping schools in areas of recreational deprivation.
5. Establishing a club/ School link for recruitment of players and development of teachers.
Who is Benefiting?
1. Every school that we deliver coaching to benefits from the programme by offering the students rugby coaching, something not all schools are in a position to do.
2. Students are becoming more active on a regular basis during school time and have an opportunity to join Dunstablians RUFC a safe and friendly environment to play rugby.
3. Girls have an opportunity to play rugby, which is an option that a lot of them will not have received before
4. Schools located in recreationally deprived areas such as Kings Houghton are able to offer their students rugby coaching
5. Sportsmatch and the sponsors involved are gaining quality exposure through advertising and press coverage of the Youth Development programme.
